Captured in Cloth
We are delighted to welcome this exhibition from renowned quilter and embroiderer Kate Dowty from Bridport. The original exhibition was featured at the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in 2012, but this display includes more items and work not seen before. In this collection of stitched wallhangings, Kate celebrates locations close to her home where the landscape and the coastline provide daily inspiration. The colour and movement of the sea, the textures of the stunning cliffs of the Jurassic Coast and the patterns created by the patchwork of small fields are all included in the mix.

4th – 25th May (Open every Saturday in May)
Open Studios Event in Newbury
This year the Old Chapel will be featuring a selection of working artists on different days, all displaying their work and demonstrating how things are made. Variety of media including wood and textiles. Free Entry.

5th June - 5 July
Patricia Young Exhibition
An exquisite exhibition of hand sewn pieces from Patricia Young. All done at the Royal School of Needlework, the pieces are accompanied by all the background work and samples involved for each piece, making this a fascinating display of design and development to beautiful finished work.

Girls Will Be Girls
Girls will be Girls is a wonderful celebration of all those beautiful dresses girls really should wear. Smocked, embroidered, tucked, flounced and frilled - this is a collection of dresses by Wendy Hickson of Winchester. These dresses are exquisitely made and include day dresses, play wear and communion clothes. Forget chain stores - come and glory in how things ought to be!
