Poetry in Stitches 3

At Last – Poetry in Stitches 3 details are now available!

The NNA has run two previous rounds of the Poetry in Stitches project and both have been extremely popular. We are hoping that Poetry in Stitches 3 (PiS3) will be equally successful. This, of course, depends on you - our entrants who choose the poems and make the pictures, and our visitors who bring the exhibitions to life and buy the catalogues to help fund it all.

So, get started now choosing your poem and then get to work – 2011 is getting closer all the time! We need your entry and we need you to come and see all the pictures when they are finished. We are aiming for lots of entries and very high standards in 2011, so do join in and help make Poetry in Stitches 3 the best yet.

All you have to do is choose a poem and then make a textile picture interpretation of it. Our PiS3 booklet contains over 100 poems to whet your appetite but you don’t have to use any of these if you have another in mind. You may use any poem of your choice, with the exception of any poems already used in Poetry in Stitches 1 or 2 (list at end of Terms and Conditions page)). If you do want to use a poem which is not in the booklet then PLEASE let us know what it is as soon as possible. The NNA has to get copyright permission to print poems and this can take a long time. For PiS3, poems which have not previously been published must be approved by our Poetry Panel and these should be sent in to our Newbury office at the earliest possible moment, preferably before you begin work on the picture.

In order to help reduce costs for the project please supply an email address on your registration form for acknowledging your registration form and fee, your work when it arrives, and any subsequent communications.

The NNA is moving to our new workshop at The Old Chapel, Main Street, New Greenham Park, Newbury in November 2009 while we undertake the conservation of ‘The Country Wife’ mural. This is open to the public so do come and support us by visiting our exhibitions, events, and courses taking place there.
